Week 8 gets underway and by the end of Monday Night, our San Francisco 49ers will be halfway through their 16-game schedule. Time has flown by and hopefully they'll be staring back at us with a 6-2 record heading into the bye.
The Week 8 schedule gets going with the scuffling Tampa Bay Buccaneers traveling to Minneapolis to face the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have to take advantage of all their opportunities these next few weeks. They face the Bucs at home, Seahawks on the road and Lions at home before their Week 11 bye. After the bye, here is their six-game schedule:
@ Chicago
@ Green Bay
vs. Chicago
@ St. Louis
@ Houston
vs. Green Bay
If these Vikings make it to the playoffs, I think we can say they are for real. That gauntlet is the reason their remaining schedule is No. 2 in the league. Only the Cardinals face a tougher upcoming schedule.
The Bucs are trying to climb back into the wild card race after losing a heart-breaker to the New Orleans Saints. The Bucs are 2-4, and while the offense has made strides, the defense is getting chewed up. I expect big things from the Vikings offense tonight, if you are wondering about fantasy options.
