49ers vs. Bills: Public transportation options on a busy San Francisco Sunday

We break down the public transportation options in San Francisco for Sunday's 49ers-Bills game, on a busy day in the Bay Area

While a large chunk of Niners Nation readers are spread around the country and the world, enough folks live in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, that I think this is pertinent to get posted. This weekend is a busy one for San Francisco, and for those planning on attending the 49ers-Bills game, I highly recommend considering public transportation options for getting to Candlestick Park.

This weekend might be the biggest weekend in a long time with the following events going on:

Giants NLDS Game 2 (AT&T Park)
America's Cup yacht race (Marina Green)
Fleet Week (air show on Sunday over Fisherman's Wharf)
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (Golden Gate Park)
Castro Street Fair
Italian Heritage Parade (North Beach)

The time on the Giants playoff game has yet to be determined. There are four baseball playoff games on Sunday, and if the A's lose today (Wednesday), or the A's win and the Yankees win, the A's will be hosting a playoff game that day as well. I would imagine the two west coast teams will get later times for the ALDS, and if the A's end up going on the road to start the playoffs, the Giants would seem assured of a later playoff game. If that's the case, grabbing MUNI to the 49ers-Bills game would not be quite as bad.

Here is a rundown of the various transit options if you elect to take public transportation. My favorite has always been the T-Third line, but the 77 down Van Ness is a solid option as well.
