Happy Halloween. Got that out of the way. How about them 49ers? That was a helluva Monday night game they played. Really a complete game. We didn't get big yards out of Frank Gore, but the Cardinals stacked the box, forcing Alex Smith and the 49ers to throw the ball. And boy did they ever! Alex Smith completed 18 of 19 passes and threw for three touchdowns. Not sure if you've heard, but the 49ers are lobbying the league to change a play in which Smith threw a pass sideways to a back. It was ruled a lateral on the field but was clearly going forward upon later review. If that get's changed, Smith will get the record for most accurate day for a QB. Amazing. And with the team cruising into the bye week with a two-game lead in the NFC West, things could not look much better.
As for the links, there's tons of notes from the game as they were late getting up Monday night and mostly got posted yesterday. A lot of this stuff overlaps and you may have already heard it all by now, but it's what's available...and I know you guys need your fix. Enjoy.
Week 8: 49ers 24, Cardinals 3
Our very own James Brady has some notes from the MNF victory over the Cardinals. On the negative side are the penalties, which are verging on ridiculous, and poor clock management. On a positive note, Michael Crabtree schooled last years rookie darling Patrick Peterson. | 49ers vs Cardinals postgame notes and observations. (Brady)
Christian Gin has his notes on the game. He singles out improved red zone play calling and how well the defense stops the run among other things. | 49ers vs Cardinals rewind: Five things we learned. (Gin)
I was not aware of this, but Alex Smith, if he would have completed one more pass in one more attempt, would have set the record for highest completion percentage in a game. You need a minimum of 20 attempts to qualify. There are two plays that may be reviewed by the league that could give Smith the record. Click the link to find out! | Penalty or not? Record in the balance. (Sando)
Some notes on the game from Kyle Bonagura at CBS Sports. He's got Aldon Smith on his list of top-shelf performers and gives a nod to Randy Moss for partying like it's 1999. | Postgame analysis: 49ers 24, Cardinals 3. (CBS Sports)
I don't know if this was mentioned earlier, and if it was, I haven't noticed, but how about Dashon Goldson's shot on Early Doucet. Brutal hit. But, do any of you remember last season when Doucet got Goldson ejected from a game after giving him a cheap slap on the helmet when he was on the ground? Goldson unloaded some punches and was sent to the showers. Now they're even...unless you count getting beat up and then getting laid out completely the following season as 2-0....I do! | Goldson's old school shot symbolic of 49ers defense. (Pro Football Talk)
It was great to watch Michael Crabtree excel in the passing game, converting key third downs in the process. That jump ball over Patrick Peterson was priceless and he may actually live up to his draft status. | Michael Crabtree flashes star potential. (Poole)

Watch Skip Bayless from ESPN, who always rips the 49ers support them as the best team in the NFC. Weird. Then He has some good notes on the game. Then watch the other guy go bonkers.
