Thursday Night Football Open Thread: Cardinals vs. Rams

We look at the NFC West showdown on Thursday Night Football between the Cardinals and Rams

Scott Kane-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals square off in primetime tonight as they meet on Thursday Night Football. The Cardinals lead the NFC West with a surprising 4-0 record, while the Rams are quietly showing some improvement with a rather surprising 2-2 record.

The Rams are not a particularly good team at this point, but they are showing some things at home with wins over the Redskins and Seahawks. They are struggling on defense against the run, but the Cardinals haven't exactly shown a lot in their run game.

The Cardinals have surprised most of us with a fairly hot start. They are not winning pretty, but four straight wins is getting the job done. They own a road win over the Patriots and home wins over the Eagles and Seahawks. They are favored heading into St. Louis, but the Rams are giving teams fits in the Edward Jones Dome.

Can the Rams take the Cardinals zero tonight and drop them into a potential first place tie with the 49ers? I picked the Rams in the upset, although a two point spread would not exactly make it a monumental upset. The

NFC West is bunched up at the moment. A Cardinals win would give them some breathing room from the bottom of the division, but obviously they have plenty to look forward to in the 49ers. I still don't know what to make of the Cardinals. If they win tonight that is certainly a mark in their favor. Any road win is a good win. If they lose, I won't be ready to drop them completely off the radar, but it would take quite a bit away from their unbeaten record.
