49ers vs. Bills inactives: Brandon Jacobs remains sidelined, Isaac Sopoaga active

We break down the 49ers and Bills inactive lists for their Week 5 contest.

Ed Szczepanski-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The 49ers and Bills released their inactive lists and running back Brandon Jacobs remains sidelined. Although he has said he is 100% healthy, his lack of special teams skills is likely the reason for his continued deactivation. Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter have handled the bulk of the carries for the 49ers. With Anthony Dixon's ability to handle special teams play and garbage rushing time, he is winning out over Jacobs for now. The 49ers face the Giants next week and I have to think he is up for that one.

Isaac Sopoaga is active for the game after spending much of the pre-game in sweatpants while Ricky Jean-Francois was getting taped up. I would imagine this means Ice starts, but there has been no specific word one way or the other. If there were question marks though, I would imagine Ian Williams might have been more likely to be activated.

The Bills inactives are not surprising with the big names being guard Kraig Urbik and offensive tackle Cordy Glenn. They were not expected to play, but they remain tough losses for the Bills.

49ers Inactives: Scott Tolzien, Ian Williams, A.J. Jenkins, LaMichael James, Joe Looney, Trent Robinson

Bills Inactives: Tarvaris Jackson, Johnny White, Delano Howell, Kirk Morrison, Kraig Urbik, Cordy Glenn, Spencer Johnson.
