With Thursday Night Football kicking off in just a bit, I thought I'd get my Week 9 NFL picks in. The 49ers have the week off, and I think they have a good shot of covering the spread against Bye. I had a strong week last week, marking my first big week in a while. I went 10-4 against the spread and 12-2 straight up. I like it!
Since I don't have a 49ers game to break down, I thought I'd take a look at the most recent Super Bowl odds, released earlier today by Bovada. The 49ers odds currently sit at 6/1, a week after being 13/2. They are behind the 5/1 Houston Texans and 11/2 New England Patriots, while also being just ahead of the 7/1 New York Giants and 8/1 Atlanta Falcons.
It is interesting that the Falcons are that far down in spite of being undefeated. I say interesting as opposed to surprising because there remains some skepticism about the Falcons. They are a playoff team, but there is something just a little bit off about them heading into the second half of the season. I don't know what it is, but something is missing from their repertoire.
On to the picks.
Chiefs @ Chargers (-8): Chiefs cover, Chargers win
Broncos (-4) @ Bengals: Broncos
Ravens (-4) @ Browns: Browns win outright
Cardinals @ Packers (-11): Cardinals cover, Packers win
Bills @ Texans (-10.5): Texans
Panthers @ Redskins (-3.5): Redskins
Bucs @ Raiders (-1): Raiders
Vikings @ Seahawks (-4.5): Vikings cover, Seahawks win
Steelers @ Giants (-3.5): Giants
Cowboys @ Falcons (-4.5): Falcons
Eagles @ Saints (-3.5): Saints
Overall Record
Versus the spread: 51-63-2
