49ers injury report: Alex Smith, Chris Culliver limited in practice

We break down the 49ers Thursday practice participation report in advance of Monday Night Football vs. the Bears.

Brian Bahr

The 49ers released their first practice participation report of Week 11, and it should surprise nobody that Alex Smith was listed as limited. Often this means the player takes part in individual drills, but not team drills. Whatever the case, Colin Kaepernick likely received some, if not all, of the first team snaps during the team portion of practice. The team portion is closed to the media, so we are left to speculate.

The other notable figure on the injury report is cornerback Chris Culliver, who was limited with a shoulder injury. This would appear to be something that happened against the Rams as Culliver was not on last week's injury report. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will meet with the media on Friday, so we'll see if he has anything to say about Culliver's shoulder injury.

The participation report also includes an assortment of players listed as "full participants". These include:

RB Anthony Dixon (hamstring)
S Dashon Goldson (ribs)
LB Tavares Gooden (elbow, quadricep)
C Jonathan Goodwin (ankle)
RB Frank Gore (ribs, wrist)
G Mike Iupati (quadricep)
WR Mario Manningham (shoulder)
DT Will Tukuafu (wrist)
LB Patrick Willis (shoulder)

Since last week's final report, this includes new additions in Dixon, Goldson, Goodwin and Iupati. They are all full participants, so it's not the end of the world by any stretch, but it is worth noting.
