As the 49ers enjoy their bye weekend off, team scouts remain plenty busy getting ready for next April's NFL Draft. The scouts are out and about this weekend for Week 10 of the 2012 college football season. The scouts continue compiling data on the numerous prospects across the country. Eventually there will be cross-checkers and the team will fully develop their big board heading into April 2013. Until then, college football continues on!
There are plenty of important games on the Week 10 schedule, but one game is the clear BIG one. No. 5 LSU hosts No. 1 Alabama in a rematch of last year's National Championship Game, as well as the 9-6 regular season battle in Tuscaloosa. Alabam won the game that mattered and now will look to settle into the driver's seat in the SEC West. Alabama still has to play Texas A&M and Auburn at home, but this LSU game is the big one.
The rest of the college slate features some potentially interesting matchups. No. 2 Kansas State hosts No. 24 Oklahoma State and No. 17 USC hosts No. 4 Oregon. There are some decent day games, but these three big games are all going on later in the afternoon. I'll make sure the open thread is prominently featured later tonight for those games.
Chris Steuber tweeted out some of the pertinent information about where team scouts will be traveling. These are not all visits, but the ones for which he has received some confirmation. According to Steuber's sources, 49ers scouts will be at Oklahoma State-Kansas State, Ole Miss-Georgia and Oklahoma-Iowa State. Additionally, they were reportedly at Cal-Washington last night, and Virginia Tech-Miami on Thursday night.
