49ers vs. Rams: Danny Amendola might be back for Week 10 matchup

We break down the latest news surrounding the impending return of Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola

Jamie Squire

The 49ers and Rams will be getting their injury reports together starting on Wednesday, but in the meantime we have some early speculation that Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola could be back in time for this weekend's game. Amendola suffered a clavicle injury, described by some as a dislocation and others as an SC joint injury, and has been out since October 4.

According to the Rams official website, barring a setback this week, Amendola is expected to "figure[] prominently into the team's plans for a comeback by the bay." When healthy, Amendola has been Sam Bradford's go-to guy. Unfortunately for the Rams, Amendola has struggled with health issues, missing most of last season before suffering the clavicle injury this year.

The Rams are sitting at 3-5 having lost three straight after a strong enough start to the season. While they are heavy underdogs, getting a healthy Amendola back in the lineup would be a pretty big benefit. Chris Givens has quietly developed into a decent deep threat, while Brandon Gibson has been more of a possession guy. If they can add Amendola to this crew, that provides an interesting challenge for Carlos Rogers, Tarell Brown and Chris Culliver. I have plenty of faith in the 49ers cornerbacks, but adding Amendola does make it a tougher challenge.
