Golden Nuggets: 49ers 27, Dolphins 13; Colin Kaepernick, Aldon Smith lead way

Monday, December 10, 2012 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of 49ers links from around the web. Following the 49ers 'closer than the score indicates' victory over the Dolphins we bring you all the news I can find.

USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday's Dolphins game was a lot closer than I anticipated or cared for. It really wasn't settled until Colin Kaepernick sprinted 50 yards down the left side for a game sealing touchdown run with 2:10 left in the 4th quarter. There were a lot of positives to come out of the game. Aldon Smith recorded two sacks, giving him 19.5 on the year, three away from breaking Michael Strahan's single-season record. He should get it, seeing as we've got a game left against Arizona who have given up more sacks than any other team this season. Kaepernick played well, going 18/23 for 185 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He added the touchdown jaunt, as well. Michael Crabtree went off, once again, catching 9 passes for 93 yards. LaMichael James saw the field for the first time and looked like a viable replacement for Kendall Hunter. Brandon Jacobs was relegated to inactivity. I think he may get cut before the playoffs. Just a hunch. But Anthony Dixon plays special teams and we can bring someone up from the practice squad who won't take to Instawhine all the time, if needed.

I'm gonna jump in to the links because there's a ton and I've got things to do. My Twitter handle is @GafflezMalone, and it'll be strictly 49ers, well....maybe the odd thing that amuses me as well. I'll be posting 49ers news and links as I search them seek and destroy them. So follow me. If there's anything you'd like to see, let me know either on Twitter or in the comments. Links galore.

Jame Brady has some notes from the game. He cites Patrick Willis' forced fumble and David Akers making field goals as two occurrences of note. | 49ers get past Dolphins: Notes and observations (Brady)

I like what BASG has to say about the media and their virulent, bitter little tongues. They hate the 49ers and openly root against us. I'm slightly exaggerating, barely. | Aldon Smith sets 49ers' single-season sack record; media getting restless (BASG)

Mike Sando has some positives and negatives. Among the negatives are the poor pass protection by the offensive line and NaVorro Bowman's ill-timed, though questionable, penalty toward the end of the game. | Wrap-up: 49ers 27, Dolphins 13 (Sando)

Kyle Bonagura cites C.J. Spillman's recovery of Marcus Thigpen's muffed punt as the turning point in the game. And did you see Anthony Fasano's one-handed touchdown grab....beautiful. | Postgame analysis: 49ers 27, Dolphins 13 (Bonagura)

Some notes from the victory. They note that Alex Smith abandoned the long reads too quickly while Colin Kaepernick stays fixated on them for too long. | Good and bad from 49ers' 27-13 win over Dolphins (Mercury News)

I've been waiting for this all season. I think LaMichael James' game fits in so well with the offense and the versatility they like to show that it's been a mystery as to why it took so long. Only Coach knows. | Fresh-legged James impressive in long-awaited debut (Branch)

You like notes? Cam Inman's got notes! There's the standard fare. He notes how close we were to pulling off the flea-flicker to Randy Moss. | Postgame briefing: 49ers head to New England with 27-13 win over AFC East's Dolphins (Inman)

Eric Branch talks about Colin Kaepernick's game-sealing, 50-yard touchdown run. | Read (option) all about it: Efficient Kaepernick seals win with 50-yard run (Branch)

Eric Branch is busy with more notes from the game. I haven't mentioned it earlier, so I'll credit Branch with telling us that DeMarcus Dobbs hurt his leg and it appeared to be of the more serious variety. More news as it breaks! | Aldon Smith powers his way closer to Strahan's record (Branch)
