49ers vs. Patriots injury report: Mario Manningham limited, Rob Gronkowski does not participate

49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham leads the list of players dealing with injuries heading into Week 15

The 49ers released their practice participation report, and while there are not any surprises, there are still some names to keep an eye on the rest of the week. Wide receiver Mario Manningham was among four players listed as limited while wearing a black no-contact jersey at practice today. Manningham also was without a helmet, and would seem to be questionable at best for Sunday's game. The other players in black jerseys were Aldon Smith (shoulder), Bruce Miller (shoulder) and Tavares Gooden (ribs).

Manningham sat out practice all last week with the shoulder injury, and it would appear he will start this week on a similar basis. If Manningham is unable to play on Sunday, A.J. Jenkins would once again fill the third wide receiver role. Jenkins had eight snaps last week while Ted Ginn Jr. had four snaps. Neither Jenkins or Ginn were targeted in the game.

The 49ers announced the signing of Eric Bakhtiari this morning, following the placement of Demarcus Dobbs on injured reserve. This signing was strictly a special teams move, and is all the more important if Gooden is limited or unable to play on Sunday. The 49ers coverage units have tightened up in recent weeks to a certain extent, so losing guys is not exactly helping matters. I would be shocked if Bakhtiari was not active on Sunday.

Limited Participation in Practice: LB Tavares Gooden (ribs), WR Mario Manningham (shoulder), RB Bruce Miller (shoulder), LB Aldon Smith (shoulder)

Full Participation in Practice: K David Akers (pelvis), LB Navorro Bowman (shoulder), CB Tarell Brown (shoulder), CB Chris Culliver (knee), RB Frank Gore (wrist), CB Carlos Rogers (knee), DT Will Tukuafu (wrist), LB Patrick Willis (shoulder)

The Patriots also released their injury report and Rob Gronkowski was unable to participate. There were reports he was going to try and give it a go, but he was unable to do so. That does not mean he won't get some practice in later this week, but for now, odds would seem low that he will play on Sunday.

As for all the limited players, the Patriots have a habit of listing a lot of players as limited during the week, and then questionable heading into Sunday. My guess is most of these players will play come Sunday.

Did Not Participate in Practice: TE Rob Gronkowski (forearm, hip), DT Kyle Love (not injury related)

Limited Participation in Practice: CB Kyle Arrington (knee), DT Ron Brace (elbow), S Patrick Chung (shoulder, hamstring), G Dan Connolly (back), CB Alfonzo Dennard (hamstring), TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle), LB Dont'a Hightower (hamstring), DE Chandler Jones (ankle), WR Brandon Lloyd (knee), G Logan Mankins (ankle, calf), C Nick McDonald (shoulder), LB Brandon Spikes (knee, ankle), CB Aqib Talib (hip), T Sebastian Vollmer (back, knee), WR Wes Welker (ankle), LB Tracy White (elbow)

Full Participation in Practice: LB Jerod Mayo (elbow)
