49ers vs. Seahawks injury report: Justin Smith sits out another practice

We break down the 49ers and Seahawks Thursday practice participation reports.

Ezra Shaw

Another day of practice, another day of Justin Smith sitting out practice. The 49ers will release their final injury report on Friday, but at this point odds seem pretty slim of Justin Smith playing on Sunday.

Of course, the 49ers could just be resting him all week with plans on playing him Sunday. The only reason I can see that happening is that Smith really doesn't need a full week of practice. On the other hand, do you risk aggravating the injury with the playoffs around the corner? The 49ers are note saying thing one about Smith's elbow, so we are left to speculate on what it all means.

On the Seahawks side of things, Richard Sherman was an addition as he sat out practice. It was not injury related, so one can assume Sherman was dealing with his appeal. It sounds like we should have some kind of word on this issue on Friday. While I obviously would like to beat a closer to full-strength Seahawks team, I am perfectly fine beating any Seahawks team.
