Well, that sucked. This game really could not have gone any worse. Any other bad things happening would have just been repetition of previous bad events. This might have been the worst football game I have ever watched. The loss to the Giants in the NFC Championship Game was brutal, but if you take away playoff implications, this game was absolutely brutal. The 49ers were thoroughly destroyed by the Seahawks, losing 42-13.
I won't be going into a ton of detail because I really have no interest in recapping this piss-poor performance. The 49ers fell behind early and never got back into it. They had a couple opportunities to turn this into a game, but things fell short and it really didn't matter.
This was an absolute nightmare of a game as the 49ers got drilled by Seattle, while also losing Vernon Davis to a concussion and Mario Manningham to a nasty knee injury. At one point I found myself just hoping the 49ers would start taking a knee just to avoid injuries.
The 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals next week and still can clinch the division. In fact, with Green Bay traveling to Minnesota, there is still a chance for the 49ers to clinch a first round bye. But for right now, things are too damn frustrating to deal with that. The Seahawks came out looking fantastic, but the 49ers should have been able to stick in this game. They have some things to figure out this week and beyond.
And on that note...I'm off to have a few more drinks.
