49ers vs. Cardinals odds: San Francisco gets biggest spread of the week

We break down the 49ers-Cardinals opening line, which has the 49ers sitting as huge favorites.

All I have to say is, WOW. The 49ers have opened as 16 1/2 point favorites over the Arizona Cardinals in their Week 17 matchup at Candlestick Park. I did not really know what to expect, but I did not anticipate a number that high. It is currently the largest spread this week, sitting a half point ahead of the Denver Broncos favored status over the Kansas City Chiefs.

This is an odd week for NFL gambling in part because of some teams potentially resting starters, or other teams placing several players on injured reserve. It messes with the spreads and leaves us wondering what is up.

In looking at this game, it seems like even with the absence of Justin Smith and Mario Manningham, as well as possibly Vernon Davis, oddsmakers think the 49ers will bounce back strong against Arizona. Or they think the Cardinals are that bad. The 49ers have shown great success bouncing back from losses under Jim Harbaugh, so maybe that factors in as well?

Do you think the 49ers win that big? Maybe they're trying to suck in some money on the Cardinals?
