49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh chatted with the media on Wednesday, and provided a minor update on tight end Vernon Davis. According to Harbaugh, Davis has not experienced any setbacks in his recovery from a concussion, but he will not practice on Wednesday.
The 49ers tight end suffered a concussion on a big hit by Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor on Sunday Night Football. You could see Davis attempting to shake the cob-webs out of his eyes when he got up, and he never returned to the game.
The concussion protocol requires passing tests both at rest, and after exertion. The 49ers will have two more practice sessions to see how he is feeling. If he is unable to go on Sunday, Delanie Walker would be the No. 1 tight end and Garrett Celek would be the No. 2 tight end, leaving the team incredibly thin at the position.
It is just one more position where the team is dealing with the injury bug.
