We break down the news that the 49ers have placed Mario Manningham on injured reserve, and promoted defensive lineman Tony Jerod-Eddie from the practice squad.

The 49ers made a pair of roster moves today as they prepare for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Wide receiver Mario Manningham was placed on injured reserve, and rookie defensive tackle Tony Jerod-Eddie was promoted from the practice squad.

The 49ers signed Jerod-Eddie as an undrafted free agent on May 7. TJE was signed out of Texas A&M, and has spent the entire season on the practice squad. He can play across the defensive line, and appears to be insurance because of the absence of Justin Smith, and potentially Will Tukuafu. The 49ers have reported Tukuafu as limited on their practice report this week after Tukuafu suffered an injury in the 49ers loss to the Seahawks.

TJE played in 51 games (38 starts) at Texas A&M, where he registered 148 tackles, 7.0 sacks 14.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. As a senior, he earned Second-Team All-Big 12 honors.
