The 49ers wrap up their 2012 regular season schedule, as they host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17. The 49ers are are 10-4-1 and on the verge of clinching the NFC West. The 49ers have already secured a playoff spot, but with a win over the Cardinals or Seahawks loss to the Rams, the 49ers would clinch at least the three seed in the NFC playoffs.
The 49ers are facing a struggling Cardinals squad that is rolling out quarterback Brian Hoyer in his first career start. The 49ers are short-handed in this game, but anything short of a strong victory will leave many of us feeling a bit underwhelmed heading into the playoffs. The 49ers are going to the playoffs, and while momentum can sometimes be overrated, it would make me a little bit more comfortable to see something resembling a strong win. We'll see what Sunday brings.

49ers vs. Cardinals Odds
While it is not surprising that the 49ers are favored over the Cardinals on Sunday, it is rather surprising that the 49ers are favored by some oddsmakers by as many as 17 points. The Cardinals are a struggling team giving a quarterback his first career start, but is that enough to justify the biggest spread of the week, and the biggest in recent 49ers memory? Considering the 49ers will be without Justin Smith and Mario Manningham, and could be without Vernon Davis as well, and it's kind of surprising. Ideally the 49ers roll through this game, but who really knows what will happen.
