49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh met with the media today and informed them that Mario Manningham missed his three day of practice this week, and is likely to be listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. A doubtful status means he has a 25% chance or worse of playing in the game. Jason Witten played under the doubtful tag earlier this year, but generally speaking, doubtful players do not play.
This would of course leave the 49ers with four wide receivers in Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss, A.J. Jenkins and Ted Ginn Jr. Delanie Walker and Vernon Davis can both get split out wide given their athleticism, but even still, this would likely mean A.J. Jenkins will actually get some playing time this week.
Last week, Manningham got 27 snaps, Moss got 31 snaps and Ginn got 14 snaps. Jenkins will see action, but it's more a matter of how much. I'd prefer a fully healthy team, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was wildly intrigued by what Jenkins brings to the table in his first action of his rookie season.
