I honestly did expect to see rookie running back LaMichael James by this point in the season. It's much easier for running backs to make the jump from college to the NFL, and I felt he did things differently enough to warrant some playing time. Kendall Hunter going down with an injury does suck, but if it opens the door for James, then that's a definite silver lining.
Given how 49ers rookies have been playing in recent seasons, I fully admit that I'm probably too excited about James and his potential. A.J. Jenkins might get some playing time on Sunday as well, with Mario Manningham still injured. I don't really know what my expectations are for him, but there's few things as exciting for me in the NFL than seeing top rookies get their first playing time.
