49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith continued his run through the history books on Sunday as he set the 49ers single season sack record. Smith recorded his sack No. 18.5 of the season when he thoroughly bulldozed left tackle Jonathan Martin to take down Ryan Tannehill.
This is sped up just a little bit, but it shows you just how violent a play it was. Martin had no chance against Smith and Tannehill had no time to progress through his reads on the play.
With the sack, Smith surpassed Fred Dean for the 49ers single-season sack record. He not sits 4.5 sacks back of Michael Strahan for the NFL single season record. With a half of football left against the Dolphins offensive line, he could very well add to his total. He also continues adding to his record for most sacks through the first two seasons oa career. It is safe to say Aldon Smith is one hell of a beast.
