Fooch's Note: The Falcons are apparently emerging as a potential option.
Adam Schein of Fox Sports is reporting that HBO might have some interest in a two-team series of Hard Knocks featuring the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens. It looks like the Jets are the preferred choice, but if Rex Ryan gets his way, the team will not in fact appear on the show.
While a few weeks of 49ers Hard Knocks would be pretty cool to watch, I would be pretty surprised if Jim Harbaugh signed off on this. I suppose it is possible other principals in the 49ers organization could sign off on this, does anybody actually expect this to happen? Jed York might want to see something like this, but would he really sign off on it if Coach Harbaugh did not want to be involved?
At the same time, while it is an unlikely option and could be an unneeded distraction for a team that will already be high on many radars, it would be kind of cool to get a chance to follow the 49ers on the show. Coach Harbaugh keeps things pretty close to the vest, so it would be pretty cool to see a bit more about his interactions with the team. And given the many characters on the 49ers roster, players interactions would be interesting.
But again, I'm not holding my breath.
