Joe Looney Injury Info: New 49ers Guard On Road To Recovery From Lisfranc Injury

After three separate trades involving fourth round picks, the 49ers finally settled in and drafted Wake Forest offensive guard Joe Looney. Although Looney graded out as a potential day two guard, he suffered a Lisfranc injury to his foot in the 2012 Senior Bowl. This cost him an opportunity to take part in several Combine drills.

According to a Fox Sports report from nine days ago, Looney recently received a positive report on the injury and will reportedly be able to resume all football activities sometime in June. For those wondering about the Lisfranc injury, it was this injury that sidelined Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden midway through the 2012 season. It is my understanding that much of the recovery is rest and staying off the foot.

If you head after the jump, I've got some video embedded from the last couple weeks, courtesy of Looney's agent Aaron Ross (Octagon Football). Given the drills he's involved in, these would seem to point to a guy well on his way to recovery. And if the 49ers have a steal because of this injury, well that'll do just fine.
