San Francisco 49ers Undrafted Free Agents 2012: Chris Owusu Leads The Way

As is often the case immediately following the NFL Draft, teams and undrafted free agents are furiously working to get deals done. The San Francisco 49ers have jumped right in and deals are starting to get done. Nothing is official until the team announces it, but for now, players and agents are announcing deals every which way.

It should surprise nobody that Stanford WR Chris Owusu has reportedly signed a deal with the 49ers. Although he has a significant concussion history, he is a rather talented receiver that likely would have been drafted had he not suffered numerous concussions in college. He has a tough battle to earn a roster spot, but will be an interesting talent to consider in training camp.

The 49ers also reportedly signed kicker Giorgio Tavecchio. The Cal product has a serious leg and will get plenty of chances to show what he can do in camp. However, David Akers is coming off a dominant 2011 and it would be a significant upset to see Akers lose his job to an undrafted rookie.

The 49ers have reportedly signed outside linebacker Joe Holland from Purdue, running back Jewel Hampton from Southern Illinois, and Michigan State tight end Garrett Celek. CSN Bay Area is reporting Stanford defensive end Matt Masifilo will sign with the team and CBS Sports is reporting Stanford safety Michael Thomas has also indicated he will sign with the 49ers.

Some other players that are reportedly signing with the 49ers (Barrows with some reports to go with the linked tweets below):

Brian Tymes, WR, Florida A&M
Al Netter, OG, Northwestern
Nathan Palmer, WR, Northern Illinois
Johnson Bademosi, CB, Stanford
Patrick Butrym, DL, Wisconsin
