Eddie DeBartolo To Be Featured On NFL Films

Yesterday morning, 49ers CEO Jed York tweeted that his uncle, former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo, will be featured this fall on an NFL Films special titled "A Football Life." You can view some previous versions of the series over at NFL.com.

This should be an interesting series in part because it will feature a whole host of former players and coaches discussing the well-known 49ers owner. DeBartolo was a beloved owner by most every player with whom he dealt (Charles Haley might have had some issues), which should make for some fun interviews.

DeBartolo was among the 15 finalists for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but did not make the cut down to ten before the final selection. This is a big deal not just for 49ers fans, but for fans of other owners around the league. Thus far, all the owners elected to the Hall of Fame were fairly integral in the formation and early days of the NFL. Eddie DeBartolo would be the first "modern" owner to earn induction. It may take some time to get him into the Hall, but features like this would seem to only help his case.
