So About That Kevin Kolb Trade...

Now, I realize as a 49ers fan I can only talk so much smack about an opposing team's quarterback. I feel comfortable with the belief that Alex Smith will show improvement this season, but even still, it's not like he's some kind of sure-thing lock.

At the same time, given that the Arizona Cardinals gave up Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, a second round pick and a sizable contract to get Kevin Kolb, I can't help but smile at this quarterback competition between Kolb and John Skelton. We are a long way from training camp and the regular season, so it would not be at all surprising for Kolb to secure the starting job. For now though, it remains a bit of a problem.

The Cardinals have a lot of talent in certain parts of the team, but it doesn't seem like it will be enough to overcome their own struggles at the quarterback position. The 49ers overcame years of QB struggles, but they had an all-world defense and special teams helping out. I don't see it being quite so easy for the Cardinals.
