Golden Nuggets: Harbaugh Sets Record Straight on Peyton Manning

Hello everyone. I'm still internet impaired and sitting on a friends couch in the freezing cold so I'm going to short change you again. At least I've warned you in advance. You'll get all the links, I just might not be able to summarize anything or even read some of the articles due to time. At least it's the slow time of the year. In other news, how did everyone enjoy their three day weekend? Anybody due anything exciting? Any travelling?

To the links!

Evaluation, pursuit, depends on who you ask. Ask coach Harbaugh and they evaluated Peyton Manning. He sets the record straight. I think coach should be a politician when he's done coaching. | 49ers 'evaluated' Manning. (Inman)

No 49er is waiting for the exhibition season more than Colin Kaepernick. He feels he is leaps and bounds ahead of last year and would love to get the chance to get in the game. | Kaepernick ready for exhibition season. (Inman)

Coach discussed some other things that didn't have to do with Peyton Manning. Tarell Brown vowing to lead the league in INT and Kaepernick's progress were among the topics. | Coach Harbaugh speaks about team. (Inman)

Alex Smith also spoke on the Peyton Manning saga. Guess what happened? He repeated what Coach Harbaugh said, like a good lieutenant. | Smith speaks on the Manning saga. (Barrows)

Matt Barrows has a 'roster watch' going on. Today he tackles the offensive line (get it?). | Roster watch: offensive line. (Barrows)

Christian Gin at examiner.com also has a piece on the Manning saga. He notes that the whole non-story between Cam Newton and Alex Smith might have provoked Harbaugh to come to the defense of his QB. Hmmm... | More on Manning. (Gin)

Brandon Jacobs gave an interview after practice. Bay Area Sports Guy has the link embedded as well as highlights of the transcript. | Jacobs video interview. (BASG)

BASG was also in Santa Clara to watch the practice and has some notes. Kyle Williams looked great and Randy Moss, due to his size, speed, and fluidity, is impossible not to focus on. | BASG's notes on practice. (BASG)

There are two stories today on Terell Owens. The first is by Ray Ratto. It discusses how silly the comeback attempt was and the idea of him playing in the Bay Area is preposterous. | TO is done, according to Ratto. (Ratto)

T.O. and Randy Moss' careers overlapped for much of their length, and both were considered to be the most dangerous receivers in the game. But now, their paths have diverged. Matt Maiocco details the differences in the two and gives some quotes from Moss' new teammates. | TO and Moss have gone their separate ways. (Maiocco)

Yahoo! ranks the defenses and every single writer has the Niners #1. There are also links to the other rankings they have if you want to navigate around a bit. | Niners' D ranked #1. (Yahoo! Sports)

Dashon Goldson wants Eric Weddle money. That's 5 years, $40 million dollars. I personally think you have to have more than one good year to be the highest paid player at your position. I think the FO agrees. | Goldson wants Weddle money. (ProFootballTalk)

Alex Smith isn't known for having the biggest arm. Both backups have bigger cannons. But this piece notes that Smith had one of the best QBRs on throws over 20 yards...what does it mean? | Does Alex Smith have the arm to utilize the deep threats? (SFGate)

That's it guys...see you on Sunday.
