There are few common occurrences in football that amuse me more than a bunch of big strong macho athletes, guys who make their livings subjecting their bodies to some of the most severe abuse in the sporting world, huddling up together against a little nip in the air. There's an abstract sort of way that it reminds me of myself, and there aren't many things I can even abstractedly relate to athletes of this level about.
But I have these days when my body gets beat up. I stub my toe in the morning, grin and bear it. I slice my palm open making lunch, walk it off. I get hit by a car (so what if it was parked?), just laugh about it with my friends. Then I get home, eat something a day too old, get just a hair of an upset stomach, and spend the rest of the night fetal on the couch, complaining about how terrible I feel. That's how I imagine these moments in football.
"Hey, did you see that tackle? I think I broke my arm, but I can probably play through it."
"Another concussion? What is that, three tonight? Almost a new personal best!"
"Yeah, I didn't really need that pinky finger anyway."
"Hot dang, it's cold. Where's my parka? This is terrible. It's too cold. I can't play like this. You found the parkas? Okay. Get the parkas for everyone. This is ridiculous."
So now it's your turn. Take a hack or two or three or more at giving this photo the caption it deserves. And while you're here, take a moment to rec any captions that make you smile. Last time, Mertons_merkin came home with the most recs.
