49ers Vs. Texans Injury Report: Perrish Cox Likely Joining Aldon Smith And Ahmad Brooks On The Sideline

Unlike the regular season, the preseason does not provide the opportunity for a traditional injury report. The coaching staff will eventually have to give up some details, but for now, we're stuck guessing based on what we've heard in press conferences and who is or is not practicing.

We know Aldon Smith and Delanie Walker are likely to sit out tonight. Smith injured his hip last week against the Vikings, while Walker injured his knee in Sunday's FanFest practice. After that, we have some ideas based on a variety of reports.

Perrish Cox will apparently be held out of tonight's game with a hamstring injury. He has reportedly been having a good camp, but suffered the hamstring injury the last couple days. If Cox does in fact sit out, that means more more playing time for Tramaine Brock. Over the last couple of years, Tramaine Brock has quietly worked his way up the depth chart. While Cox has had the more high profile camp, a strong performance this week could put him in position to gain some more playing time next week.

Matt Maiocco provided a rundown of the current injury report. The players currently dealing with some injury or another include:

Ahmad Brooks (knee)
Perrish Cox (knee)
Joe Hastings (right leg)
Cam Johnson (knee)
Aldon Smith (hip)
Delanie Walker (knee)

The 49ers haven't officially declared anybody out for tonight's game, but we can make some fairly educated guesses. Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks would appear likely to be out, which means we'll get a chance to see Eric Bakhtiari and Kourtnei Brown alongside Parys Haralson. This won't give us final answers about the fourth OLB position, but a strong showing from either of the two would be a solid step forward.
