49ers Injury News: Delanie Walker, Perrish Cox Join Aldon Smith Ahmad Brooks In Practice

The San Francisco 49ers returned to practice yesterday, and after a rash of injuries the last two weeks, players are making their way back onto the field. Injury reports aren't the most exciting news, but in training camp and the preseason, it's all about injury reports and position battles.

As we mentioned yesterday, both Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks were back in practice. The 49ers were without both starting outside linebackers this past weekend, and the lack of pass rush was evident. The 49ers got some good work against the run from Parys Haralson and Eric Bakhtiari, but the difference at OLB was evident.

It sounds like Delanie Walker was back in practice and looking in solid shape. Our good friend the Bay Area Sports Guy was at practice and reported on the various 49ers back in action. Perrish Cox missed the Texans game with a hamstring issue, but seems to be working his way back. It sounds like he did some individual work before the full practice started and the media had to leave the field.

Brandon Jacobs made an appearance on crutches, but as Coach Harbaugh intimated, there is a chance he could be available in time for the team's opener at Green Bay. We won't hear much about him in practice and whatnot, so really we could find ourselves without any significant new information until the first injury report of the season in September.

Running back LaMichael James was on the field, but it sounds like he was mostly just observing. It sounds like James is getting close to returning, but given that this is the preseason, it makes sense to get that ankle 100% and not risk aggravation.
