At this point in the roster process, this should not really be too big a surprise:

Some fans were surprised guys like Brian Tyms and Kourtnei Brown were released, but we sometimes get a bit more caught up in players on the 49ers. They both received positive reports at different times in camp, but it obviously wasn't enough to keep them on the roster.
At the same time, some of these guys could end up on practice squads. Teams cannot sign players to their practice squad until 9am PT on Saturday, so most of the guys released yesterday and today that retain practice squad eligibility, will likely find themselves waiting until the weekend. They can talk to other teams at this point, but as far as I can tell, they can only sign regular contracts for the next three days.
