Good morning, everyone. Last day of a five day stretch of Nuggets here so I'm going to be quick again. We've got the game tonight and it'll answer all the questions that we have (unless the defense performs in the same underwhelming manner). I guess when you think about it, a lot of questions can come up. What we don't need to come up is another injury. We've had enough of those this preseason. As for the news...
This is probably the only time of the year when, on a gameday, the biggest news isn't about the game. As we know, after tonight's battle with the Chargers, we're doing some thinking and then trimming the roster down again. So most of today's news is speculating on the who and why of the whole situation. Anthony Dixon is on/off the team depending on who you ask. Who's no. 3 in the QB depth chart and what happens to no. 4? And can I please have some idea of what WRs are going to be playing? What about Perrish Cox? All questions to be answered shortly. I'm glad we have the Thursday game this week, giving us the most time for the FO to make these decisions (and the most rest before week 1 and the Green Bay Packers).
On to the links...
GAME 4: 49ERS vs CHARGERS
Christian Gin at examiner.com has some key players to watch in tonight's game. We're still trying to sort out who the 4th CB is and, with Chris Culliver still injured, Perrish Cox, Tramaine Brock and Co. will have all the opportunity to state their case. | 49ers - Chargers preview: Who to watch. ROSTER NEWS
Eric Branch takes a look at the 49ers RB position, which is probably the source of the most intrigue heading into the last game. We're definitely going to cut a player that we're well and truly familiar with who will get swooped up by another team in a hurry. But who? | Running down the RBs: Dixon, Rock Cartwright battling; James will return. (Branch)
Matt Barrows does his usual good work in breaking down the roster. He's got 47 players as locks to make the team for one reason or another. That leaves us with 6 question marks. Some of those have highly likely answers, but how does the FO see things? Harbaugh's not saying. Also included are tidbits like which of the players likely to be cut are practice-squad eligible. | 53 pickup: Where things stand as preseason finale approaches. (Barrows)
