49ers Roster Cuts: Rock Cartwright Tweets Thanks For Opportunity

Fooch's Note: I suppose this could be thanks for the opportunity resulting in a job, but I kinda doubt it.

The San Francisco 49ers have not announced their roster cuts yet (it may not happen for a good five or six hours), but news is leaking out through other means.

I am not perfect when it comes to deciphering tweets, but I think we know what this one means. It sounds like Rock Cartwright was part of today's roster cuts and will be moving on to his next opportunity. This follows the news of the team's decision to trade Colin Jones for a draft pick.

The departure of two guys who seemed good bets to earn special teams roles would seem to give us a potential confirmation that Anthony Dixon will return to the team. There has been speculation about that all week, and this is as close as we'll come to confirmation before cuts are announced (or I suppose Boobie drops a tweet). The 49ers will need veteran special teamers, and Dixon brings that, along with some potentially improving skills as a blocker and runner.

The 49ers coverage and blocking units were the best in the league last year, so it will be interesting to see how playing around with the formula impacts it. Or maybe it's not really playing with the formula, if new guys bring those same skills to the table. We'll find out real quick when Randall Cobb is back deep next week in Green Bay.
