The 49ers head into a day off from practice today, which means no press conferences for the peanut gallery. The team wrapped up this session of practices with a twilight practice last night. The 49ers conduct most of their practices in the afternoon around the 2pm to 5pm timeframe. However, the team has mixed in some pre-lunch and twilight practices, which would seem to help the team get ready for the 10am PT starts when they go east, and the numerous prime time games at night they will be playing.

It sounds like the offense got back into the swing of things a little bit. Demarcus Dobbs hauled in a touchdown pass in some tight end work in the red zone. I don't know if this will end up being enough to justify going with only two tight ends plus Dobbs, but he would seem to at least be making things interesting for the coaching staff. There will be a lot of things to look for in this Friday's preseason game, but Dobbs is becoming all the more interesting as each practices moves along.
The highlight of practice would seem to be Coach Harbaugh's work inserting himself into the mix. The 49ers wrapped up practice with a field goal attempt. However, Coach Harbaugh filled in for David Akers and proceeded to run a fake field goal. Unfortunately for the 49ers head coach, his shoes did not get quite the grip as cleats and he took a fall when he tried to cut in the grass. No wonder the players love him.
