While plenty of you live outside the Bay Area, I wanted to post this for those of you in the Bay Area and San Francisco in particular. Tomorrow (Wednesday), the 49ers are hosting a "Red and Gold Rally" from noon to 1:00 p.m. PT at Justin Herman Plaza (near the Ferry Building) in San Francisco. The event is a kickoff to the 2012 season and will also serve as the grand opening of the team's Shop 49ers retail store. This store will operate in Justin Herman Plaza Monday through Friday throughout the entire football season.

According to the 49ers, "[t]he Shop 49ers grand opening will showcase all new styles of 49ers apparel, including the latest Nike gear. Special discount codes, to be redeemed at the Shop 49ers store, will be distributed to those in attendance." If you can't make it down, you can still get your 49ers gear at Shop49ers.com.

The timing could not be better for the 49ers as they are surging in merchandise sales following their Week 1 win over the Packers. According to Fanatics.com, the 49ers are number three in merchandise sales at Fanatics.com, behind only the Cowboys and Steelers. This week, they have seen a 114% increase in sales, which is second behind only the Denver Broncos (131%). This all comes with no top ten merchandise sellers. Apparently the team effort carries over to merchandise!

Welcome aboard the bandwagon.

If you have a few free minutes around lunchtime tomorrow, drop by Justin Herman Plaza and check out the happenings. The event will feature 49ers CEO Jed York, alumni players, Gold Rush cheerleaders, Sourdough Sam and Niner Noise. If any of you go and can get pictures, tweet them out (mention @ninersnation and I'll retweet them), post them in here, or email them to me at ninersnation at gmail dot com.
