Golden Nuggets: Eric Bakhtiari Signs Deal, Ted Ginn Jr. Returns to Practice

Good morning, everyone. How is everything going? I'm doing good. I did the interview and appreciate the votes of confidence in the comments. I think I did OK, but am still a ball of nerves and won't find out the results until this coming Wednesday. C'est la vie.

In the world of the 49ers there were two key happenings in the personnel realm. Firstly, we've signed Eric Bakhtiari to a 2-year deal. He played well in the preseason, leading us in tackles, while filling in for Ahmad Brooks and Aldon Smith. He's going to take the roster spot of Clark Haggans who was suspended three games for a DUI. The two-year deal makes it seem like he'll be sticking around. Still not sure what long-term implications that has, or whether or not Haggans will stick around. He's yet to see playing time.

Ted Ginn Jr. has returned to practice, although in a limited capacity. We haven't been excelling in the return game which is, in turn, impacting our field position battle that was so crucial to last year's success. Longer drives and the ability to gain yardage and complete key third-downs have made up for us being even in field position. Can you imagine what our scoring output would be if we had last season's field position. There were a few games where we were outgained, converted few third downs, managed to fail in the red zone, and still won in dominating fashion. Kyle Williams has filled in admirably at PR, considering last year's fiasco, but Kendall Hunter fumbled last week on a KR, giving Detroit three easy points, and resulting in our first turnover since the Baltimore game last Thanksgiving. Welcome back, Ted. Now score a touchdown.

This is another abbreviated edition of the Nuggets. I'm still catching my breath from the job interview and neglected all of my husbandly duties to prepare for it. I'll be back on Friday evening with This Week in Niners Nation. Have any of you been reading it? I haven't gotten much feedback on it, though what I've heard has been positive. Check it out!
