2013 NFL Draft: 49ers Week 2 Scouting Trip

College football enters its second full weekend of action with a bit of a low key slate of games. No ranked teams are squaring off this week, although we do have some potentially compelling matchups. Iowa and Iowa State have their rivalry matchup this weekend, with Iowa hosting. Wisconsin travels to face Oregon State, which should be a win for Wisconsin, but is at least an inter-major conference matchup. Florida travels to Texas A&M to welcome them to the SEC.

For 49ers fans, Chris Steuber has confirmed the presence of 49ers scouts at Iowa versus Iowa State. That game will also see scouts from the Ravens, Rams, Giants and Seahawks. Here are some of the prospects of note:

Iowa: DT Steve Bigach, DT **Carl Davis, WR Keenan Davis, C James Ferentz, TE *C.J. Fiedorowicz, CB Micah Hyde, OLB *Christian Kirksey, K *Mike Meyer, FS *Tanner Miller, ILB *James Morris, **Brandon Scherff, OG Matt Tobin, QB James Vandenberg

Iowa State: OT Brayden Burris, OT Carter Bykowski, TE Kurt Hammerschmidt, WR Aaron Horne, QB Steele Jantz, RB *Shontrelle Johnson, ILB A.J. Klein, OLB Jake Knott, WR Josh Lenz, DT Jake McDonough, P *Kirby Van Der Kamp, FS *Jacques Washington, RB *James White.

Drew Kerr has posted a FanPost with his current look at QB, RB and WR rankings. I would imagine we'll see plenty of change in these rankings over the course of the season, but this provides a base-line to track over the next few months as the season meanders along. Some of the big names will struggle, and some unknowns will emerge as strong draft candidates.

This post (the front page one, not the rankings FanPost), will be the open thread for today's college action. When you get a minute, check out Dan Rubenstein's prediction video below. He went 5-0 last week and this week will look to replicate that. He is picking five games: Florida-Texas A&M, UCLA-Nebraska, Oklahoma State-Arizona, Georgia-Missouri and LSU-Washington.
