Pro Bowl 2013: Game time, date, rosters, TV schedule and more

The annual Pro Bowl will take place Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 from Honolulu. The 49ers will NOT be participating because they're just too good for it. Since some might still want some background noise on Sunday, here are some details.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The 2013 NFL Pro Bowl kicks off later today at 4:00 p.m. PT on NBC, and while we as 49ers fans are fortunate enough to not have to care too much, some of you may actually be inclined to watch the game. Last year, the game seemed to be a rather disastrous affair, and yet it still outdrew a lot of sporting events in terms of ratings. It actually outdrew six of the seven Celtics-Heat playoff games.

The 49ers had a whole host of players named to the roster. They had seven starters and two reserves on the roster, with eight players named as alternates. Of course, that ended up not mattering as the 49ers earned a berth in the Super Bowl, which means no Hawaii trip for them this year!

For purposes of recognition, the 49ers Pro Bowl selections included OT Joe Staley, FS Dashon Goldson, SS Donte Whitner, OLB Aldon Smith, DT Justin Smith, OG Mike Iupati and ILB Patrick Willis as starters. ILB NaVorro Bowman and RB Frank Gore were named as reserves. OG Alex Boone, OLB Ahmad Brooks, OT Anthony Davis, TE Vernon Davis, C Jonathan Goodwin, P Andy Lee, CB Carlos Rogers and ST C.J. Spillman were all listed as alternates.

Now, we get to point and laugh, although I suppose a trip to Hawaii is not the worst thing in the world. Not nearly as good as a trip to the Super Bowl, but it's something at least.
