The 2013 NFL playoffs continue on with what is tentatively the main event of the weekend as far as 49ers fans are concerned. The No. 3 Green Bay Packers host the No. 6 Minnesota Vikings on NBC at 5:00 p.m. PT. If the Packers win, they advance to face our 49ers in San Francisco next week in the divisional round. If the Packers lose, Sunday's Seahawks-Redskins game becomes a whole lot more interesting.
The Packers opened as nine point favorites before the line came down to 7.5 in some places. It is now up at 9.5 or 10 in most places, with the QB situation being a particularly big issue for the Vikings. Christian Ponder is dealing with some elbow issues and Joe Webb will get the start in his place. Maybe this is a good thing? Christian Ponder has had some good moments this year, but he's had some ugly ones as well. Maybe Webb is the better option this week?
I have thought this one through, and while the Redskins and Seahawks both strike me as very dangerous, I also wonder if I want to see the 49ers face Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs. I realize it will be in Candlestick, but I'm still cautious about that.
