AFC wild card thread: Colts vs. Ravens

New, comments

We take a look at Sunday's Colts-Ravens game, and open a thread for discussion.

The second day of the NFL wild card round gets underway with a potential doozy of a matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens. The game kicks off at 10:00 a.m. on CBS.

The Ravens are a touchdown favorite, but I have a hunch this game ends up a bit closer than we might otherwise expect. The Ravens are a strong home team, but they still have played with enough inconsistency that anything is possible. The Colts defense is not particularly good, but given the Ravens' own defensive struggles, we might just get a shootout today. The Ravens will benefit from getting Ray Lewis back, but I'm not sure that's enough to really turn this defense around.

The winner of this game advances to face the Denver Broncos. While Broncos-Ravens would be plenty entertaining, you just know the NFL is praying for a Colts upset. The playoffs will draw monster ratings no matter what, but Manning vs. his former team and their new QB would probably be the highest rated game of the playoffs outside of the Super Bowl.
