Tuesday morning, 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman was on KNBR's Murph & Mac Show, and he had a chance to discuss Jon Baldwin. Naturally he did not go into much detail, but he had a few interesting comments. Head HERE to check out the audio of the interview.

Naturally, Roman was asked about the wide receiver situation, and particularly what would happen with Jon Baldwin moving forward:

M/M: Jon Baldwin made an appearance. Just kind of wonder about the status of your receiver depth chart. Does Baldwin become that much more primary with Patton out.

Roman: Yes, I think Jon is going to get some more opportunities. I love what he did with his opportunities the other night against the Rams. Played a physical style. Kap gave him a couple good body type throws, and he made the plays. And he just continues to get more comfortable with what we're doing.

After the 49ers dealt away Alex Smith this offseason, and A.J. Jenkins in the preseason, there was some question about what we would gnash our teeth over. Thankfully, the wide receiver position continues to drive us crazy!

The Josh Gordon/Kenny Britt chatter among fans continues to grow, but at this point the front office seems content to let it ride with what they have. Eventually Mario Manningham will come back, and hopefully he can bring a little something extra. In the meantime, Jon Baldwin is going to get some kind of opportunity this weekend. He was targeted twice last week, and caught two receptions. I suspect we see him getting even more targets this week. For now I just keep my fingers crossed that he can convert on those opportunities.
