The NFC West gets the spotlight in primetime as Week 7 Thursday Night Football sees the 3-3 Arizona Cardinals host the 5-1 Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals are coming off a thumping at the hand of our 49ers, while the Seahawks squeezed out a close win over the Titans.
Seattle is currently in first place in the NFC West, thanks in part to their win over the 49ers. However, they've shone some chinks in the armor, leaving the door open for a potential upset tonight. I picked the Cardinals to cover this game, in large part because the Seahawks are going on the road, and it is a short week. The Seahawks have been rather inconsistent on the road, so the possibility of an upset is there. Of course, that likely also includes a little bit of wishful thinking on my part.
The big question mark for the Cardinals will be the effectiveness of wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. He played last week after entering the weekend as a question mark. With only a few days rest, can Fitzgerald be sufficiently effective? The Seahawks strength is defending the pass, so it would not surprise me to see the Cardinals focus on the run. If they do try and push the passing attack, I have to think the odds are pretty good we see the Seahawks Legion of Boom secondary pick off a couple Carson Palmer passes.
There is still a lot of football left to be played, but every Seahawks loss is a good thing!
