In case you missed word of it yesterday, 49ers WR/TE Chris Harper was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers. Some people were not in fact aware that he was no longer with the 49ers:
People at the airport were asking me if I was going to the game. I was like "uhhhh... Yea I'll be there" lol #packers

Harper signed a three-year deal with the 49ers after he was waived by the Seattle Seahawks at the end of training camp. There were reports the Seahawks wanted to place him on their practice squad, but the 49ers came along with a better offer. Harper was inactive the first six weeks of the season as the team reportedly was trying to work him into a joker type role. The Packers move is not surprising given the injuries to Randall Cobb and James Jones.
The 49ers waived the rookie Thursday, leaving them with an open roster spot they will likely fill later today. The odds are pretty high the spot will be filled by defensive tackles Mike Purcell or Quinton Dial. There will be other spots opening in the coming weeks, but backup nose tackle is the most pressing at the moment.
