Following the 49ers Week 7 win over the Tennessee Titans, head coach Jim Harbaugh met with the media and provided a brief update on Aldon Smith's status. Smith is currently in rehab, and according to Harbaugh, he could potentially be back in the next couple of weeks. Harbaugh did clarify that he is not the definitive source when it comes to Aldon's return.

Matt Maiocco has a little bit more detail on Aldon SmithAccording to one of his sources, "the 49ers could meet with Smith upon returning from London during the bye week ... Smith must show "significant progress" to return to play this season."

The 49ers are off to London for their Week 8 contest against the Jaguars, and then return home for a Week 9 bye. I imagine Jim Harbaugh, Trent Baalke and others will meet with Aldon either at the rehab facility, or somewhere else. At that point, we might get a better idea of where things stand. It will be great to get Aldon Smith back on defense, but we definitely cannot get too far ahead of ourselves.
