The Josh Gordon trade rumors continue rumbling along as the trade deadline approaches next week. Gordon has been rumored to be on the market for some time now, although Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski has denied the rumors. Now we've got the latest addition to the rumor mill, courtesy of Adam Schefter:
At least 3 teams have contacted Browns about deal for WR Josh Gordon; two have standing offers of a high pick and a player. Browns balking.

Naturally, this has people speculating on if the 49ers are somehow involved in this. Given the state of the 49ers wide receivers this season, when a receiver is mentioned in passing, it quickly becomes a thing.
It would not surprise me if the 49ers had contacted the Browns about acquiring Gordon. They would not be doing their due diligence if they did not at least put in a phone call to Mike Lombardi. It doesn't mean they are close to a deal, but it is at least worth some discussion.
Any guesses on what kind of offers are out there, and what the 49ers would have to pony up to make this kind of deal work? Twitter has quickly produced suggestions like LaMichael James and a second, or LaMichael James and a fourth. I am not remotely surprised LMJ is being included in any suggested trades.
Amidst all this, I still don't think the 49ers pull the trigger on a deal for Josh Gordon. I imagine we'll hear plenty of rumors between now and next week's trade deadline, but I think like with the trade deadline for most sports, there will be a lot more smoke than fire.
