49ers vs. Jaguars weather report: Rain, heavy winds expected at Wembley Stadium

The San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars square off Sunday evening at Wembley Stadium, in a game that will broadcast at 10 a.m. PT. The timing is of particular note because of an impending weather situation in England. A front is coming in through Wales and Southern England Sunday evening and into Monday.

The 49ers-Jaguars game kicks off at 5 p.m. local time, and with it wrapping around 8:30 p.m., that should hopefully get it finished before the worst of the storm comes through. As the weather forecast currently stands, it looks to be in the mid to high 50s, with showers at kickoff and winds around 20 miles per hour. It actually looks like the rain will die off pretty quickly, but the wind will pick up. Additionally, the storm forecast indicates the potential for wind gusts up to 60 to 80 miles per hour. Again, that is expected a bit later in the night at the very earliest, so it shouldn't have too big an impact during the game.

I imagine the field will be a bit soggy come game-time. Even if the rain stops, I still suspect we'll see a bit more of the ground game. And if the wind picks up even more than expected, that would be all the more the case. As you can see in the picture above, Wembley Stadium is open directly over the field, with pretty much all the seats protected from the elements to some extent. The wind will hopefully be somewhat held out, but it's a storyline to follow on Sunday.
