This game went just about as many expected. The San Francisco 49ers improved to 6-2 as they thoroughly destroyed the Jacksonville Jaguars by a final score of 42-10. The 49ers head back to San Francisco for their bye week, and in pretty solid shape.
Colin Kaepernick and Frank Gore were the starts of the game. Kaepernick finished the game 10 of 16 for 164 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing seven times for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Gore rushed 19 times for 71 yards and two touchdowns as well. This was Gore's second straight game with two touchdowns, which is the first time in his career. Who knew?!
The 49ers defense was relatively strong early, but you could argue it was a bit of a listless performance at times. This was as much about how bad the Jaguars offense was as how good the 49ers defense performed. Chad Henne couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at times, and it cost the Jaguars. The 49ers defense did make some plays, but the pass rush managed no sacks. The defensive did force one turnover, as Dan Skuta scooped up a Marcedes Lewis fumble and ran it back 47 yards for the final touchdown.
The 49ers get the coming week off for their bye before hosting the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. They follow that up with road games against the New Orleans Saints and Washington. After a stretch of relatively "easy" games, the schedule picks up some steam. Of course, with the team getting healthy now, things are about to get all the more interesting with this 49ers team.
