The rivalry between the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys has simmered down quite a bit in recent years, but that doesn't mean we won't poke fun at the Cowboys from time to time.
Earlier today, Dallas lost a heart-breaker to the Detroit Lions 31-30 as QB Matt Stafford scored a last second touchdown on a fake spike QB sneak. it was a crazy finish to a wild game that saw Calvin Johnson put together one of the single greatest receiver performances in NFL history.
For our purposes though, Dez Bryant made a fool of himself in the second half, twice seen yelling at teammates and coaches. At one point he was yelling at QB Tony Romo, and later he got into it with Jason Witten and defensive end Demarcus Ware. We don't have a GIF of the former, but here's the latter:
The ridiculous thing in all this is that the now 4-4 Cowboys are still in first place, a game ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles. The NFC East is an absolute train wreck, although Washington appears to finally be putting things together.
The 49ers face Washington next month the Monday before Thanksgiving, and as they improve, that game becomes all the more significant. After the bye, the 49ers face a tough stretch that includes home against the Panthers, and then on the road against the Saints and Washington.
It's great that the 49ers have claimed five straight wins, but I think it is worth taking a step back and realizing the 49ers beat some bad teams. I still don't know why the Texans are so awful, but they are. That doesn't take away from victory, but the 49ers schedule steps up in difficulty after the bye. Of course, the 49ers are getting players back and their current healthy players are starting to come together. It will make for a fun second half of the season.
