49ers flight out of London appears to be underway

The 49ers attempted to beat the weather on their flight out of London. It appears they got out just ahead of it.

The San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars wrapped up their Week 8 contest at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, just missing out on the bad weather that hit the south of England. Since then, winds and rain have picked up with severe gusts hitting the region. Fortunately, it would appear the 49ers flight out of London has gotten underway.

I did some google searching, and I was able to come across a flight tracker for charter flights. A quick search of flights from London to San Francisco revealed this Virgin Atlantic flight. The 49ers flew VA out of Nashville, and I believe the plan was to fly them out of London as well. I believe this is the only direct flight out of Heathrow, departing around 11:19 London time, and scheduled to arrive at SFO at 2:43 p.m. PT. I'm not 100 percent positive on this, but I think this is the flight. If so, it would appear they are flying a bit more of a northern route to avoid some of the weather.

Fooch's Note: it's also possible they caught one of these Virgin Atlantic flights to San Jose, although they all connect and I'd hope the team would have a direct flight back. Who knows.

Some of the players decided to stay up all night so they could sleep on the flight.

We'll see how well that works out. As I've gotten older I've struggled to sleep on flights. But I imagine with no sleep for over 24 hours, they'll be able to conk out on the flight. And whatever the sleep situation, they've got some time to get their internal clocks back on pacific time over the next two weeks.
