San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith has reportedly turned himself in to authorities in response to the multiple gun charges he faces. According to NBC Bay Area, Smith surrendered Tuesday evening and posted bail immediately. He faces court dates on November 12 for the three felony weapons possession charges and November 19 for his DUI case.

According to the report, self surrender was part of an agreement Aldon made with the Santa Clara DA's office. Aldon was in rehab when the gun charges came down, so this is not surprising.

We don't know the exact status of Aldon Smith and his rehab at this point, but this might mean he is out of rehab. There were reports he would meet with the team during the bye week, at which point the next step would be assessed. There have been no reports of a meeting, but I suspect something will go down in the next few days before the team reconvenes next week in their preparations for the Carolina Panthers.
