The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to move into their new stadium next season as construction continues on pace. The team is confident in the timeline, and we now have a timeline for the very first event at Levi's Stadium. The San Jose Earthquakes will host Seattle Sounders FC on August 2, 2014 in an MLS match. In case you are not aware, that's Major League Soccer.
My favorite part of this is the fact that a Bay Area sports team will host a Seattle sports team in the first event at Levi's Stadium. It's not quite the same as 49ers-Seahawks, but I do know that Seattle and San Jose have passionate fan bases for their soccer teams, so that's pretty cool.
The 49ers have been extremely proactive in their attempts to book events for the new stadium. The 49ers will play ten regular season and preseason games there, but the opportunity to really cash in comes from the numerous other dates on the calendar. They've already earned Super Bowl L. They're also bidding on the 2017 college football championship game, and they're a finalist for Wrestlemania 31 in 2015.
